Copied directly because this says it all:

This is turning into a meme, so please pass it on if you wish. I don't know who wrote the original version.

It seems there's a new "feature" whereby anyone who posts a reply on LJ to an entry (whether that entry is locked or not), can have their replies x-posted to Facebook. This is an option that shows up when you hit the reply button.

I am issuing a formal request to all who comment on my LJ, please do NOT x-post your replies, especially to locked entries. Your comments will show up like x-posted entries on FB, if you do this.

On LJ I post things about my personal life. There are people on Facebook I would not care to have privy to that information. If I see that you're cross-posting your replies, I'll ask you about it to make sure you're aware. If you continue to do it, or if you cross-post something from my journal without my permission, you'll no longer be filtered into the majority of my posts.

Summer update

First and foremost, my tax-free lump sum is now in my bank account! Yippee!

As today is officially my first day of retirement, I thought I'd better make comment on the last six weeks.

Met up with Lynne, a former colleague who is also retired, and went to see 'Inception', which we both found stimulating intellectually and would like to see again. Also, went with her to have a facial massage. This was a first for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very relaxing. Will do that again.

Treated half of my extended family to a carvery meal at The Fiveways. Sat and ate and nattered for three hours. Will do the same when the rest of the horde are in town.

Met up with colleagues still working at the school for a Ladies Lunch. Sadly, one of the other teachers has been elbowed out of her job. She and I, being so close to retirement age, were too expensive. I chose to go, thankfully, so missed out on the strife she's had to put up with. She's relieved now it's all over.

Went to an evening wedding do last week at Leasowe Castle. The bride's mother died recently (went to her funeral) but everyone was upbeat for the young couple. Met up with lots of old friends.

Next post will be about what's planned for the Autumn :)
