Redecorating begins...
We had always intended to redecorate and buy new carpets once I was retired but the job we have begun was NOT on my List, LOL.
We had new windows and door fitted to the front of the house in September. In order for the glaziers to reach the windows, I had to clear 30 years of books etc from the little boxroom. Realise, please, that this room has never been touched decor-wise since we moved in, just had bookshelves put up. Anything Jenn wanted to put out of the way went in here.
This is Jenn's room full of stuff taken out of said boxroom.

Old carpet ripped up, old wallpaper ripped off. FOUR layers of wallpaper, all put up in the 60s and 70s. Horrendous choices such as hessian effect in turquoise and vermillion, and huge pink roses!
However, the last layer proved to be this:

What a wonderful surprise! It took me right back to my youth.
The plaster is studded with rawl-plugs and is not in very good condition so will need to be replaced. :(
Oh well, I've decided this will become a quiet space for me, for reading and handicrafts. Choosing colours next!

That's only part of our book collection: all Jenn's baby books and my paperbacks are in the loft; all VC, Terry Pratchett, Tolkein, local history etc are in a beautiful hand-made bookcase on the top landing. Jenn's books are on shelves behind the stacks in her room and my VC doujinshi are in purple velvet boxes in our bedroom! My retirement daily plan has me reading for an hour or two each day, otherwise I'll not get through them all! Oh, and the local charity bookshop have already taken about 80 hardbacks away and I'm taking the children's paperbacks into school the next time I visit :D It's a good job our floors are strong!
