Signs of Autumn
Sep. 15th, 2009 12:35 amLast week, on my way to work, I saw telegraph wires festooned with swallows ready for the off. All gone now.
This morning, before it was light, while in the bathroom answering my 'call of nature', I heard a flock of geese calling to keep together as they flew over, heading for the Waterfowl Reserve at Burscough about 4 miles away. The first of many thousands that will arrive during the next few weeks.
Summer is over. The residual heat of this late burst of sun will soon be a memory.
