Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
* Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
Most of the people I would tag have already been tagged by someone else but here goes:
l_starr,
daggettsmydog,
piccola_el,
rhiannon_eph,
bohemian_weasel,
hystree,
redsilkscarf

1. I'm the eldest of five--three sisters and one brother--25 years between me and Helen.
2. In my teens, I had two very close friends. We used to write what I now realise were gay slashfics based on Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds. Some of them I remember as being very well written but we had a mass burning before we went to college so they wouldn't be found by parents. I haven't written since but I love reading others' work, particularly VC.
3. I have had two operations in my life--both emergencies: appendix at 16 and Caesarian section at 34.
4. I have been allergic to coffee for about 30 years. It makes my skin very itchy and if I scratch I get massive weals. Even coffee cake does it, which is a pity as I did like the taste.
5. I wanted to be an archaeologist but I'd taken the wrong A levels. In those days it was considered to be an art not a science. If I had my time again, I'd make sure I did it right. My sister Helen is the eternal student. She's taking her Masters at Sheffield in...yes, archaeology. She's right though when she tells me there are no jobs.
6. I have a Diploma in Mathematical Education from The Mathematical Association. I really enjoyed taking that. It took two years, six hours a week, but the main buzz was talking with adults! Over 30 years of teaching 7-11 year olds has stunted my usual vocabulary somewhat. I think that's why I enjoy reading so much. The feeling of gorgeous words trickling into my brain off the page is my 'fix'.
7. I'm parochial, at heart. Apart from 3 years at Cardiff University and a further year at Alsager College, I have not lived anywhere else. My father had lived in Ormskirk, my mother two miles away, they met and set up home seven miles away then returned to Ormskirk when I was 9. Hubby and I live in the house that we bought from my grandmother when she moved across town to live behind my parents' house. See? Parochial.
8. I owe a big debt of gratitude to secret_savior. Without Shawn's encouragement, I wouldn't have plucked up the nerve to enter lj-land. I have met many people, some my age, many younger and I am heartened that in general common sense rules. Friends indeed!
Sorry for not responding earlier. I'm not too well at the moment--cough, vomiting, the runs--you name it, I'm suffering from it. I've taken today off work.2.
