Jul. 23rd, 2007 08:03 amSo Dave rang last night. Could we go into school today instead of Thursday? His family had been planning on spending a few days away but they're not going because the place they were going to is flooded. Today's better for me then I really turn my back on it for about five weeks.
Flooding. If you're interested...

We're safe here because Ormskirk is on an escarpment--water drains away from here--and so far Jenn reports the Ouse in York, though full, has not overflowed. She's actually closer to the Foss but that collects water from a different area of land and rarely floods.
My friends in US complain of blistering temperatures, at the moment. I must admit, miserable though this almost constant rain is, I'd rather have this than the heat. At least I can still go out, armed with waterproof clothing or brolly.
I don't like heat and it drives me indoors to sit next to a fan. It drains me of all my energy and I never know what to wear to be comfortable. Even the nights get too hot to sleep properly. Yes, give me the damp British summer, anytime.
