Who sleeps in bed next to you?
Gavin for 30 years this October. Where has the time gone?
Have you ever lied to a teacher to get out of a deadline?
I am a teacher. Yes, pupils have lied to me but they don't get away with it! They have to stay in after lunch to do it instead of going out to play. Yes, I can be a bitch, if required.
What kind of magazines do you read?
Radio Times, Wildlife, puzzle mags
What's your occupation?
Primary School teacher (until July 22nd 2010, when I shall shriek like a banshee and caper like a young lamb and at last start to be me! Retiring early, my friends. I've had enough. We'll be poor but happy!)
What's really creepy?
Parents who don't know their own children at all.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Brad Pitt! He's aging very well but I admit it started when he grew his hair long (I'm a sucker for men with long hair) and played Louis.
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
VC, mainly Louis and Lestat as a pair
What are you listening to right now?
Just watched Jam and Jerusalem on BBC iPlayer. What a marvellous group of actresses and a delightful script.
What are you most excited for?
Immediately, Jenn and Mark visiting for the Bank Holiday weekend, then us going to York for her cap-and-gown graduation. Further away, retiring, paying off all my debts with my lump sum then growing old disgracefully!
What websites do you always visit when you go online?
BBC News (don't get a scandalpaper any more), LJ, internet banking
What was the last thing you bought?
Groceries
What's you favourite season?
Summer as long as it's not too hot. Don't like the lack of light in the winter--not acutely SAD but must have a touch of it. I wish I could hibernate.
Does the weather affect your mood?
Bright skies cheer me up.
What is your zodiac sign?
Gemini--always see both sides of an issue and then tend to be indecisive.
Do you want to learn another language?
Yes, as long as my brain doesn't crumble. It's supposed to be easier when you're young but I couldn't bear speaking French in front of anybody as I was unwilling to have a go at the accent. My French accent is Northern English. However, I am trying to be conversational in German via patient lessons from "orleans_vl" though not very confident yet.
5 things (not people) you can't live without?
All electrical appliances including computer with internet (what a cheat!), books, music, games, IwtV collection.
Do you have any siblings?
Three sisters and a brother, all younger.
What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
I need to ask Jenn if she'll sort out all the bags of possessions she has in the loft with me.
Do you have to pee?
No but that is something I used to tease my mother about. Wherever we went on holiday, she would locate the Public Conveniences before we did anything else. As I get older, I realise how important that is!

Date: 2009-08-25 09:38 pm (UTC)Hattest du einen guten Tag?
I'm keen to learn but can't manage without my trusty notebook! My Dutch is confined to 'What time is it?' and 'I don't know.' (I can't spell the words in Dutch.)

My German is a bit wobbly, though I can understand the written and spoken forms pretty well. I'm a native Dutch speaker, but I'm aware that it's one of the more difficult languages to learn, both because of the grammar and the phonetics.
